Jim Kenney is the co-founder and partner of StarPlex Real Estate Solutions, a position he has held since the company’s inception in 2022. With a broad and diverse leadership background, Mr. Kenney has built a distinguished career in real estate, finance, technology, and retail.

Before founding StarPlex, Mr. Kenney served as CEO of UDF IV and UDF V, two residential mortgage REITs focused on single-family developments in Texas. Prior to his CEO appointment, he held key leadership positions, including Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Strategy Officer from 2016 to 2022.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Kenney was the CEO of sephora.com, one of the leading e-commerce platforms in the cosmetics, fragrance, and skincare sectors. He also served as CEO of 180s LLC, a prominent manufacturer and marketer of wearable technology.

His executive leadership roles include President of Merry-Go-Round Enterprises, SVP of Corporate Strategy and Investor Relations at JCPenney, and SVP of Corporate Planning at Macy’s. Additionally, he led mergers and acquisitions for LVMH’s retail group, driving growth and strategic expansion.

Throughout his career, Mr. Kenney has also taken on multiple interim C-level roles in companies across construction, aerospace, and technology industries. As an independent residential real estate developer, he focused on beachfront properties in Hilton Head, SC.

Mr. Kenney began his career at McKinsey & Company after serving with distinction as an officer in the U.S. Army. He graduated with highest honors from the United States Military Academy at West Point, majoring in Nuclear Physics and Nuclear Engineering with a minor in Civil Engineering. He also holds a Master’s degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California and was a registered Professional Engineer in Virginia.
